The Orange Jillius

The Orange Jillius, a reminder of the old mall days, when we bought hit singles on 45s, picked out our favorite bands to be ironed on a T-shirt, then did laps around the mall to be seen.

The Orange Jillius, a reminder of the old mall days, when we bought hit singles on 45s, picked out our favorite bands to be ironed …

  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 4 clementine oranges peeled, seeded
  • 2 medium banana
  • 2 cups unsweetened nondairy milk
  • 1 cup ice crushed

  1. In a drink mixer, blend the rolled oats on high until they have the fine texture of flour.
  2. Add clementines, banana, and nondairy milk. Blend on high for 15 seconds until smooth.
  3. Add ice for quick chilling. Serve & slurp away.

Absolutely refreshing and delicious. I added a spoonful of truvia, but that’s because I like stuff super sweet 🙂 It was still great without it though!

    • I’m so glad you like the smoothie! Thank you for coming back and letting me know. ;D

I’m so glad to find a smoothie without spinach or peanut butter. I drink a smoothie every morning and I’m looking for stuff that’s tasty, healthy and different. I’m excited to thry this! Thanks for posting!

    • Well, I’m so glad you found Simple Daily Recipes. I have plenty of smoothie combinations. Yes, you will find a few with spinach and maybe one with peanut butter. I assure you they are all family tested and approved. ;D Let me know what other blends your try out.

Ok, this might be a dumb question, but what’s unsweetened non-dairy milk?

    • Tara

I would use unsweetened almond milk or soy or coconut milk.

    • I’m referring to plant based milks like soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, rice milk, cashew milk, hemp milk… you get the idea.
My family likes unsweetened, plain soymilk. Every non-dairy milk consumer has their own reasons for their preference, such as allergies, taste, health etc.

I added a little dab of honey – my kids drank it. We also used skim cow’s milk and halved the recipe so it would fit the single serve container of our blender.

Would it be okay to use real milk?

Turned out good, but made a lot! Needed a little bit of vanilla for that true Orange Julius taste!

I made this recipe this morning. We loved it!!!! I added more fruit because I really love the flavor. I’m going to try a bit of vanilla in it tomorrow as we had lots left over. ????
