Most AWESOME French Toast!

For some time now, I’ve wanted to make really good French toast.  I’ve eaten plenty of not so good French toast from restaurants.  I’ve eaten so much that I thought I really didn’t like it at all.

This morning my life is turned around.  I feel a new spring in my step.  My kids and husband look at me with a brighter sparkle in their eyes.  Their smiles and yummy sounds filled my heart while they joyfully ate their breakfast this morning.  I have Chef John at FoodWishes.com to thank for it all.  His instructional video on French Toast -The Fancy Brunch Restaurant Style was absolutely spot on!  I watched it twice, then went to work doing exactly what he did.  It was so easy, so quick, and so AWESOME!

Just like he said, the French toast was creamy on the inside and had a wonderful crispy texture on the outside.  After the first bite, I knew I would make this for my family on a regular basis.  You MUST make this recipe for your family.  They will love you for it, well, of course, they love you already!  You know what I mean.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

  • 6 slices French bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon butter for frying
  • Pure Maple Syrup

    this recipe is a-maz-ing! my boyfriend LOVES french toast, but he didn’t know what love meant until he tried this recipe when i made it for him! now i’ve set a standard that i’m not sure i can live up to every day! GREAT recipe!

    I made this this morning and it really is the most fantastic french toast ever. I am not a big fan of french toast because most times it is done wrong, but this was custardy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Fantastic!

      So how did you top your French toast? They almost don’t need a topping; they’re so wonderful on their own.

      I’ve grown spoiled to using Grade B Maple Syrup. It’s darker with a deeper flavor than Grade A Maple syrup. It doesn’t take much to sweeten up French toast or a stack of pancakes, either.

    I made this today for lunch. My family loved it and I will be making it again soon. My husband and son had syrup with bananas on top. Mine was great without syrup and only bananas. Yummy! Crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. It was so nice to have the video to watch. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
