HERE'S ALL YOU NEED
makes 2 1/4 cup syrup
- 1 1/2 cup table sugar
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/8 teaspoon table salt
- 1 1/4 cup boiling hot water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
In a medium saucepan over medium low heat, stir the sugar, cocoa, salt, and water together in the pan. Allow the mixture to come to a slow boil for 5 minutes, do not stir. Remove from heat. Add the vanilla. Transfer to clean mason jar. Allow to cool on the counter. Close with a good fitting lid and store in the icebox.
Chocolate syrup keeps well in the icebox for up to a month.
Use this syrup to flavor iced coffee, make hot chocolate, cold chocolate milk or drizzle it over your ice cream. It's all good.

Well? What did you think of the video? Be nice. ;D
I couldn’t decide which vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup photo to use, so I posted all three.
Which photo makes your mouth water?
This is something that I’ve been meaning to try for quite a while. And, as it happens, I just bought cocoa powder this weekend. Nice to be able to reduce the sugar or use another sweetener instead of being stuck with what hte food company decides is the perfect amount… I’ll probably try for 3/4 c sugar to 1 c coco powder first, and see if it is too thick or dark.
