More Make It Fast, Cook It Slow is Stephanie O'Dea's second slow cooker cookbook. Stephanie is not a chef, but an adventurous home cook with a healthy obsession for her slow cooker. She's a busy mom with three girls and a supportive husband. Her affair with her slow cooker has taught her how to transform forgotten and frostbitten roasts into tasty meals. She has learned how to throw together soups and stews, and how tender and moist chicken breasts can become when almost completely ignored.
Stephanie's other passion is saving money. And she's a sucker for a bargain. I can totally feel her pain. In this second slow cooker book, she has divided up 200 brand new slow cooker recipes into three sections; $7 and under, $10 and under, and $15 and under dishes.
Each section covers chapters for
- Beverages
- Appetizers
- Soups and stews
- Side dishes
- Main courses
- Desserts
All the recipes in the book have been made completely gluten-free, because of an intolerance in Stephanie's family. If you're not following a gluten-free diet, like me, this book still works. We just ignore her notes and move on. I've read through all the recipes. The ingredients are common everyday ingredients. Even her gluten-free list of foods are easy to find. It's a win-win for everyone.
The book reads well, too. Most of the recipes are so short and sweet, they only take half a page to explain. Not too many ingredients per dish. And you won't find any condensed cream soup ingredients in this book. YEAAAH!
So, here's a taste of the recipes you'll find. I'm not listing them all, just wanting to give you an idea.
