Frozen Cranberry Dessert

The first time we tried this dessert was at a pot luck holiday party.  The best thing about pot lucks is there's always something new to try.  For the adventurous types, this is a lot of fun.  For picky eaters, it's spells an evening of loading up on chips.  For those with highly trained taste [...]

The Coffee Haus Cookies

My husband and I met in a coffee house, called what else?  Coffee Haus.  I worked as the manager and he was looking for a job.  When we met up for the interview, we talked for 3 hours.  I had no idea I was interviewing my soul mate.  I was only looking for someone [...]

Simple and Delicious Pumpkin Cookies

Every Thanksgiving holiday, it’s my responsibility to bake the pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes. I have never dared to alter these traditional dishes. Certain flavors run too deep in our memories, to change them would only upset the harmony. Not to mention, my family would totally rag on me for ‘fixin’ somethin’ [...]

German Chocolate Pie Recipe

Well, I’m pretty close here.  This recipe and my memory match up!  However, I think I need more practice.  Memaw’s pie was thicker in texture; thicker like a pudding.  The deep chocolate flavor, the ratio of pecans and coconut are spot on!
However, I don’t make pies enough to know how to tweek this right away.  [...]

German Chocolate Pie

Growing up, my Memaw always made two pies for the holidays: Pecan Pie and some kind of chocolate pie with nuts and coconut blended together.  The chocolate pie was my favorite!  When she passed away nine years ago, she took the recipe with her.  No one in our family has it or knows what it [...]

Simple Cocoa Brownies

.
I served these wonderful Cocoa Brownies last night after dinner to my family and friends. You should have seen the light saber duel that took place in my kitchen over the last brownie! My husband lost to an 8 year old Jedi Knight who was a master in the ways of the force.
I [...]

Harvest Apple Crisp

Let me tell you from personal experience,
THIS APPLE CRISP IS AWESOME!!!
This recipe is so quick to throw together with no fuss. You could make it a day ahead, but you would have to hide it from your family.
Do not leave this dessert unsupervised before serving, the crunchy topping will start to disappear. If [...]

Ms. Lucy’s Dessert

This is the easiest, most delicious, most –press the crumbs with your fork– moist cake, you will ever eat!
The first time I ate this cake was at a lady’s luncheon. My sweet friend, Ms. Lucy baked it and said it was a quick, standard dessert she relied on for gatherings. When she told [...]

Quick Italian Cream Cake

Growing up, my Memaw ALWAYS made a German chocolate cake for my birthday.  It has ALWAYS been what I love to eat.
UNTIL, my Aunt Debbie made an Italian Cream cake for me the day after I gave birth to my first child.
I remember the pang of guilt that shot through me, when I considered that [...]
