Cook’s Illustrated-The Best 30-Minute Recipe Cookbook Giveaway (Closed) Print

The Best 30-Minute Recipe from Cook's IllustratedMore than 300 Fast and Flavorful Recipes

From the Cook's Illustrated promotion page:

Is it even possible to serve your grandma’s chicken and roast potatoes on a weeknight - even with today’s hectic schedules?

Our test cooks have streamlined more than 300 of your favorite dishes, and included many clever kitchen shortcuts and quick tips so you can go from prep to plate in just 30 minutes.
Think it’s impossible to serve a comforting dinner of roast chicken and potatoes on a hectic weeknight? Think again. With a skillet, some stovetop ingenuity, and a hot blast in the oven, you’ll have this Sunday classic on the table in 30 minutes.

Other family favorites like meatloaf and baked ziti won’t be out of reach either. Our All-American Mini Meatloaves (baked in muffin tins) come together far more quickly than the original. The Baked Ziti recipe condenses this multi-pot dish into a one-pot pasta meal, where the pasta cooks right in the richly seasoned tomato sauce, and you have only one pot to wash.

Organized around the most logical ways to think about quick cooking, The Best 30-Minute Recipe will lead you right to the type of fast recipe you feel like making. Want to make an entire meal in a skillet? Turn to “Skillet Suppers” for dishes like Skillet Steak Fajitas, Skillet Paella, and Pan-Roasted Chicken Breasts and Potatoes.

The test kitchen also evaluated dozens of popular convenience foods important to quick cooking, from ready-to use minced garlic and jarred tomato sauce to pre-shredded cheeses, pre-cooked bacon, and more. If a product didn’t make the cut, you won’t find it in our recipes. And because the type of equipment you use is important to the success of a recipe-30 minute or not-we tell you which brands of blenders, nonstick skillets, Dutch ovens, and more, are worth using and which are not.
