Fresh Grapefruit Juice Out the WaZoo

I know for a fact that when we do work for the LORD, He blesses us with abundance.
So the other day, we had the opportunity to help our local food bank. We volunteered to sweep up their new storage room. It wasn't glamorous, but it's what they needed accomplished.

Max is very good with a broom. Sweeping out the garage is one of the ways he earns money at home. Sweeping the food bank was no big deal for him. He took to the job, like a duck to water.
Another way we contribute is donating food. I tithe from my revenue earnings here on Simple Daily Recipes. (I'm not boasting, just sharing.) Before we give, we always call down to the food bank and ASK them what they need. It's never the same. Sometimes it's one or two items only, and other times it's several different odd things I wouldn't think to donate. Not surprisingly, this time they were short of flour, sugar, and stuffing mix.
I thought this was interesting. Our friend there, Denise, shared with us that individuals don't really donate food like they used to in the past. It's small businesses that contribute the majority of their inventory nowadays.
After we finished sweeping up, Georgia asked us if we liked grapefruit. Turned out, they had a bunch of Ruby Red Grapefruits in 25 pound bags that needed to be moved before they spoiled. Georgia asked me if I could help pass them along to others. I said, "SURE!" I took home ten 25 pound bags.

Of course, before I went home I stopped off at the local kitchen store and picked up an electric juicer. teeheehee! I finally found a reason to buy one!!!
Immediately, I set to work culling through the bags to remove any rotten grapefruits. Yes, there were quite a few. I set aside one bag for myself then called up my friend, Kim. She knows WAY MORE folks than I do and she was happy to take 5 bags off my hands. The rest I shared with neighbors.
I have to show you this! Take a look at the size of this one segment. It's larger than the palm of my hand!

And yes, it was sweet for grapefruit! I poured myself a glass of freshed squeezed juice and was completely surprised by just how yummy sweet it really tasted.
I put away 6 cups of juice in the freezer for later and filled a pitcher to drink right away. I lined all the kids up, including the ones from the hood and told them to try my "Pink Lemonade EXTREME."
You shouldv'e seen all their faces pucker up at the same time! I laughed so hard...Hooo!
I considered taking a photo, but I knew if they saw I had the camera out then something would be up. I didn't want to take that chance of ruining a full on surprise. BWa HA HA AHAA HAAA.
So see? We gave our time and money and did a little work for the LORD. He blessed us with more opportunities to give. We have some fantastic fruit juice. AND I enjoyed the biggest belly laughed I had in a long time.
God is good ALL the time.
