Yes, I did ship them in a 1 gallon freezer bag. I had two other bags of cookies that helped fill the flat rate box. I also used crumpled paper to prevent the bags from sliding around.

The flat rate box was ?$11 & did not have a weight limit. The postal employee was most helpful in setting me up before I shipped the cookies. You can just head to the post office & they’ll give you the box and shipping label for Free! You just pay the flat rate.

about the Banana Nut Bars, did you actually ship them? if you did can you tell me how you packed them..I was thinking about making them for a friend who is now overseas. thank you!

Thanks Jill. His name is Shadrick. (Modernization of Biblical Shadrach). He is in the Army, in the 101st Airborne, and is headed for a base north of Baghdad.

I told him I was proud and supported his decisions, but that until he was home, safe and sound, I would be terrified.

Thank you to you, and anyone else who got involved through the Simple Daily Recipes site (And of course to the creators of this program, Operation Baking Gals) for your involvement in this. As the father of a soldier, shipping out to Iraq in 13 days, it warms my heart to know that so many people, besides his family, care so much for him, and all of those who serve and are willing to do what they can to show their support.

I just came from your blog and completely enjoyed reading about your family and your dogs.
