Put On Your Thinking Cap-We Need A Name

There's nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with this glass of milk before you. IT'S COMPLETELY NATURAL, as GOD INTENDED For Us To DRINK IT. Those little floaties are actual bits of wholesome cream. And let me tell you, it's the most wonderful glass of milk I've ever tasted. Even my kiddos were instantly hooked and are asking for the jug of "real milk" instead of juice.
I have befriended a dairyman and family man, Kent Jisha. He runs Remember When Dairy in Yantis, Texas.
Kent's milk is the REAL THING. Just as God had intended; All Natural Milk straight from a bunch of happy, healthy cows. Kent's cows leisurely live across 1000 acres in Yantis, Texas, with plenty of room to roam about. As a veterinarian and animal lover, Kent is able to monitor and provide the very best for his animals.
As a family man, he wants to provide his kids with the most nutritious, highest quality food nature can offer. Kent's passions for going back to the ways we use to naturally farm our foods runs deep. He wants to share this goodness with us; help us to taste the difference and come to expect a better quality.
Well next to come on the market, Kent is gearing up to make Organic Texas cheese. He operates a second dairy, the name has yet to be decided, that is USDA Certified Organic. As far as he can tell there is no certified organic, pasture (grass) based cow cheese on the market shelves, at least not in Texas.
Kent's new Organic Texas cheese will be
- Grade A
- No Antibiotics
- No Genetically Modified Grains or Soy Products Used
- No rBST
- No rBGH
If you haven't had the chance to watch the two newest videos I've put together, check them out. Both involve Kent telling us about the dairy practices of making butter and separating milk.
Here's the video about separating milk.
This morning, he emailed me and asked if I could help him come up with a good brand name for his Organic Texas Cheese.
We have not come up with a brand name. We would like to at least reference Texas and family somehow. We would like to get a brand recognition so when go into chickens, eggs, vegetable and maybe pork it will be known. Any Ideas?
Kent
Well, I immediately thought of y'all. Why not ask Simple Daily Recipes' readers to help come up with a name? You folks are smart, family oriented, budget minded folks. You want the best for your family and you're always shopping for high quality foods. If we put our minds together, we could help Kent come up with a name.
Now, we've all been told "you can't judge a book by it's cover". However, we know that a name of a product can resonate feelings of quality & stability better that any book cover.
So can you help out? Help come up with a name that resonates a Texas pride in family goodness? We have a month to mull it over. But DON'T WAIT till the end. Don't be afraid to shout out the first names that come to mind. The best ideas are several good ideas joined together.
Put Your Thinking Caps On & Be a part of something BIG!

this is a case where simple is better, why not just "Yantis Family"? Otherwise, "Remember When" is pretty good as well. Either one could have a slogan like "Made by our family for your family" or "From our Family to yours"
Hi Jill,
I love all the recipes on your blog!
Just thought you might want to take a look at the other side of the raw or natural milk issue – I recently wrote a post on my blog about it. You can find it at: http://calgaryskeptics.com/blog/2009/02/02/raw-mi...
Cheers,

Lonestar Family Farm Fresh Foods-it gives you room to grow as big as you desire and the opportunity to stay as small as your own acerage.
I grew up on real milk-straight from the bulk tank. It is something everyone should have the ability to enjoy.

Thank y'all for your quick replies. I will be passing your ideas along to Kent as they keep rolling off the tops of your heads.
Shayla, I need to make something clear. Remember When Dairy is all natural, but it is not raw milk. Remember When Dairy Milk is Low Temperature Pasteurized, Non-Homogenized.
Your article ruffled my feathers.
Your remark:
"over 200 people became sick in the US in 2002 (sorry, most recent data I could find) as a direct result of drinking unpasteurized milk products. People can contract tuberculosis, salmonella poisoning, and many more illnesses from drinking milk that has not been properly processed. So, raw milk should be avoided."
Ok first, ALL MILK, no matter what dairy it comes from, goes to the milk processing plants as RAW MILK. The milk is extracted from the cow through hoses that go straight into holding tanks. The milk processors buy the raw milk from the dairymen. The raw milk is transferred from the holding tank to semi-truck and away it goes to the plant to be mixed in with all the other milk.
There's a HUGE difference between unpasteurized milk products and drinking raw whole milk. Over half the milk that is produced goes into making cheese, it is not drank. It is purchased literally by the train loads by large buyers such as KRAFT.
Generally, when we, the public, learn of epidemic food poisoning and immediate food recalls from the FDA it is because a large MANUFACTURING PLANT has not properly followed safe food handling procedures.
Can we say Peanut Butter without cringing? I'll bet some of us are wondering how their doing down in Blakely, Georgia.
One last thing before I go prep for dinner, It is through these large billion dollar companies that food safety & the understanding of nutrition fail us. It is their big dollars that influence the "scientific research" for food reports to say "there's no difference between our synthetic products and the all natural." And they are the same dollars that keep hidden any information from mentioning anything otherwise.
Shayla, I'm not upset with you, but the article did rub me the wrong way. I appreciate and respect your opinions. You can always express yours, so long as I can express mine.
When I was little I used to drink natural milk every time we went to my dad's little town. I would go with him or one of my uncles and milk the cows, that's the best milk I've ever had in my life. I do miss that
I don't have a name for you, but I hope we can see more farmers like that selling their products all around the country.
I just watch the milk video and enjoyed it so much. I did have an "aha" moment as I thought back to my childhood and the glass bottles w/ cream on the top but when I thought of my Grandma and her butter and cream money that she received by skimming the fresh cow milk after the cream rose to the top and how overjoyed she was when she received her hand cranked machine to seperate the milk and cream I suddenly realized we were drinking skimmed milk! And I thought that was a new thing brought about by the low fat diets we now eat. (or are suppose too) Thanks for the informative info.
How about "Texas Vitality", or "Texas Essentials", or even put "Lonestar" in the place of Texas.
essentials: fundamental or necessary
vitality: "the capacity to live, grow, develop"
both words are used to describe "organic"
I had more ideas….I posted my other 2 ideas on Facebook.
Texas Organic Harvest; Plentiful Harvest; Texas Daily Harvest; Lonestar Harvest
Hey Debbie!
I like your ideas and at 2 o’clock in the morning, too. (I can see when folks leave comments.)
These are GOOD names, I’ll pass them to Kent. THANK YOU!!
If you think of more, keep posting them. There are no limits here.
The Yantis Good Life Farm
The Yantis Family Good Life Farm
Thinking of brand names that can be put in front of a food category:
Texas Pride Eggs, Texas Pride Whole Chicken, Texas Pride Pork
Naturally Texan
East Texas Farms
Texas Special
DON'T MESS WITH DAIRY! Combines the "Don't Mess With Texas" attitude along with the fact that the company doesn't 'mess' with the dairy by adding hormones, etc…
LOL! I LOVE IT!!
