Sloppy Joes

The kiddos love this quick, delicious Sloppy Joes recipe.  I'm cooking them tonight to get away from the Thanksgiving leftovers.

Do you happen to have more desserts leftover than other foods?  Our fridge runneth over with sweets.  Last night, I had the hardest time deciding which pie I would eat again.  So I compromised, I sliced off enough of each pie to equal one normal slice.  Do you do this too?

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED FOR SLOPPY JOES

  • 3 cups precooked ground beef
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt to taste
  • 2-3 dashes Tabasco
  • 6 hamburger buns, toasted

Cook over medium heat all the ingredients, excepts the buns, 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thicken.  Remove from heat, allow to set for a few minutes before serving.

If you have them, heat up some Tater Tots in the oven while you're cooking the Sloppy Joes.  They should finish up about the same time.

Enjoy!

I LOVE sloppy joes. From what I cn tell, this is not a normal adult this to love. But I do.

However, because I dont do much that is ‘normal’, let me add the following…. Add dill pickles to the bun, and top the meat with a slice of Amercan Cheese. NOW your talking real food.

Dont be tempted to use nofancy pickles either. Nope, this calls for a layer of thin, McDonalds stlye, dill pickle slices. And Kraft singles (I know, not really cheese) is the best. Your not trying to make it better (You do, but its not the aim) your trying to off-set the sweetness (with the pickles) and add a mellow richness (The cheese).

Mmmm…… Mmmmm….. Guess I know whats for dinner tonight!!!!

Tim, I would not think to add dill slices, but I would definitely add on the cheese.
I’m trying mine with cheese next time I make them. -Jill
