Tex-Mex Cheesey Macaroni

My kids are just like yours, they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE macaroni and cheese. However, some nights my husband and I need something with more kick. That's when I get out the precooked ground beef from the freezer and mix it up a bit.
HERE'S WHAT I LIKE TO DO
- 1 box of Kraft Thick & Creamy Macaroni & Cheese
- 1 cup of elbow macaroni
- 3 cups precooked ground beef
- 1 can Mexican style tomatoes
- 1 can of black beans
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Prepare macaroni and cheese as directed on box and add extra macaroni to boiling water. Heat up ground beef, tomatoes, beans and spices on med heat until hot and tomato juice has evaporated. Stir meat mixture into prepared cheesey macaroni and EAT UP!
MAKE IT HOTTER
Add 2 ounces of chopped green chilies to heated meat mixture. Or just slice up a jalapeño and throw on top as a garnish.
It doesn't take long to get this meal on the table. I like to make half of it spicey and half mild, for the kiddos. Anyhoo, try it out and tell me how you & your family liked it.

I got scared for a minute that you actually bought the meat already cooked, but that’s a good idea what you’re suggesting…..
Eww, no. I don’t understand buying precooked, frozen meats (bacon, sausage, chicken, etc.) They look weird and there’s no flavor, just a chewy substance that looks like meat.
Thank you for your input, it’s encouraging!

hi! since I don’t eat beef, can I substitute it for something else? like mutton for example?
anyway the recipe sure sounds yummy! and i love the flavour of cumin!
Hi Morinn!
I love cumin, too!
I have never eaten mutton, so go for it & you tell me how it turns out.
I have made this dish without beef, too. My kids liked it with black beans and pinto beans, together. Be sure to drain the beans, if you use two cans of beans. It speeds up the cooking time.
Thank you for stopping over and please come back to share with me how the mutton substitution turned out. I really want to know.
