Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 6 tablespoons water to be mixed with ground flaxseed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup natural applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated cane juice sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF degrees. Lightly oil 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, allow ground flaxseed and water to set up into a gelatinous texture. Meanwhile, get all the other ingredients together.
  3. To the gelatinous flaxseed, add vanilla extract, applesauce, sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and chocolate chips.
  4. Stir all the ingredients until the dry ingredients have been absorbed. Transfer batter to oiled baking dish.
  5. Bake 40 minutes.
  6. Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting. Use quick cooling tip I mentioned in the video if you're in a hurry to have dessert. ;D
