Do I have your attention now?
The next time you find yourself traveling in Texas on interstate highway East 35 and you know you're going to drive through a little town named West. STOP!!!
West is located 20 miles North of Waco, Texas. There's a great bakery known as the Little Czech Bakery that is AWESOME!!! It's right off the highway on the East side. You can't miss it, just follow the cars.

Once inside you'll have the hardest time deciding which kolache you want to eat, i.e. jalapeno & cheese or strawberry & cream cheese, there's almost too much to choose from. And this is a Texas bakery, nothing is small.
The Little Czech bakery has a large assortment of breads that will leave your head spinning, beer bread, olive bread, jalapeno bread, foccacia, and on and on. This foccacia was FANTASTIC with our pasta dinner.

Have you heard of this bakery? Have you eaten here, too?

OMG i just happened upon this little place last week on my way to houston from fort worth, it is soooooo
awesome. i keep thinking about those cream cheese kolachis!!! it will be a permanent stop on all my trips!!wish we had one in houston!
Hi Jan!
I hear ya! It’s impossible not to stop when we’re heading North from our annual Austin road trips. It’s actually part of our road trip.
Next time, you’re in West. Take time to go into the downtown area. It’s charming and makes for a fun rest stop. There’s more pastry
shops that are just as busy and restaurants, in case you’re there after breakfast. All good, all fun.
My daughter-in-law and her mom recommended I stop at the Little Czech Bakery and I am so glad I did! The varieties of kolaches offered is the best I’ve ever seen! I had an apricot w/cream cheese and a breakfast sausage kolache–Excellent! Took extras home–they freeze well. I will definitely stop again on every trip down I-35.
Ooh, I could a kalache right now.
This is a MUST STOP SPOT on your way north or south on I35! If you hit them at the right time you can pick up some of their wonderful baked goods on the day old rack and pay almost nothing for them! I paid .99 for an entire loaf of jalapeno beer bread and it was great! These people know how to bake!
I LURV their jalapeno beer bread with a bowl of hot beans. Thank you for sharing the money saving tip, Jori!
